Overview

For one evening a year, the Washington Seaplane Pilots Association (WSPA) has the pleasure of welcoming all members, non-members, pilots, non-pilots, and friends for an evening of fun at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. The event serves as the primary fundraiser to help fulfill the organization's mission to protect and grow seaplane access to Washington waters, promote safe and responsible seaplane operations, foster communications among owners, operators, service providers, and the community, and to facilitate events sharing the joy of seaplane flying in Washington and the Pacific Northwest.

Museum of Flight Access

Event attendees can enjoy all that the Museum of Flight has to offer, as admission is included with registration. Plan to arrive early and check in at the admissions desk. State that you are attending the WSPA Grounded Hogs Dinner Gala, and you will be given a private event wristband that will allow you to tour for the entire day leading up to the event. The Museum of Flight opens at 10 am and closes at 5 pm for event setup. Admission is free only for registered guests of Grounded Hogs.

Program

This year, the event will be held in the Museum of Flight Skyline Room. The evening will begin with a social hour, followed by an overview of initiatives and accomplishments from 2019. Chuck Perry will then present the inspiring story of Kenmore Air, the largest seaplane airline in the United States continuously operating since 1946. This event could not happen if it weren't for a thoughtful group of volunteers who selflessly donate their time to assist us with guest check-in, ticket sales, raffle setup, and other duties that make the event run smoothly. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Don Goodman via email (donaldjg56@gmail.com) or phone (360) 303-7076.

Raffle Donations

We are immeasurably grateful to receive a variety of generous donations to include in our raffle - from scenic flights and aviation gear, to flight lessons, avionics, books, photography, and aviation themed products and adventures! If you would like to contribute an item or experience, please contact us at admin@washingtonseaplanepilots.org. Every contribution is very much appreciated!

Register Early

The Grounded Hogs Dinner Gala coincides with the Northwest Aviation Conference and Trade Show. As such, we expect a large turnout of seaplane pilots, enthusiasts, and guests. Space is limited and we tend to sell out early, so be sure to reserve your tickets before we run out!
